Colorado Provider Training Academy

The Colorado Provider Training Academy (CPTA), established by HB24-1038 and implemented within 12 CCR 2509-8, is committed to creating a highly trained, trauma-informed workforce for residential child care. CPTA addresses critical needs by reducing staff burnout and turnover, improving compliance and quality of care, and enhancing retention and recruitment in residential settings.

 

CPTA offers a 40-hour foundational curriculum through OpenLMS, which includes 30 hours of instruction and 10 hours of applied learning, live coaching by subject matter experts, and an additional 6 hours of supervisor training. It also plans for ongoing specialized training modules. The curriculum encompasses a broad range of topics, including trauma-informed care, regulatory compliance, cultural responsiveness, youth rights, and other youth-specific issues.

 

The CPTA program invests proactively in the care of vulnerable youth, fostering a more skilled and sustainable system and workforce. This initiative requires. collaboration between department staff and dedicated and experienced volunteers to provide live coaching, guidance, curriculum, participation tracking, relationship building with providers, and individualized training.
