Family First News
- Family First: Annual Evidence Building Strategy Report (PDF) is Available! This report acts as a strategic roadmap to align and activate prevention partners in implementation of Family First in Colorado.
- DCW is seeking a location to host the first two groups for the Child Welfare Motivational Interviewing (MI) training pilot in June. The dates we are holding at this time are June 9 & 10 and June 23 & 24, full-day sessions. We have identified 30 participants for each training, so a great deal of space isn’t necessary. The ideal location will have free parking, Wi-Fi access, and the ability to use or provide technology (e.g. sound system, screen to display, etc.). If you are a county that would like to participate in the MI pilot but are unable to commit staff at this time, this is a great opportunity to support the first piece of this exciting launch. Please contact Noelle Smith, noelle.smith@state.co.us, if you are able to provide space or for any questions.
- Our Colorado Family First Prevention Plan with the addition of Motivational Interviewing (MI) is moving along. We met with our federal partners recently to review the proposal prior to formal submission and received great feedback. Our team plans to move forward with the formal submission once the Communications Team makes necessary changes to the finished Plan.

County Question: Is there a certain time limit for Prevention – PA3 in Trails or in general?
Answer: While there is currently no set time limit for PA3 Prevention, this assistance is intended to be short-term. In contrast, Core Services have a time limit of 18 months. County departments can grant extensions of an additional six months, which requires internal administrative review and documented approval in TRAILS (7.303.15).
