QRTP Lifetime Limit Waiver Resources

Qualified Residential Treatment Programs were created as part of the implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA).

This new QRTP category of provider was created to ensure children and youth in placement would receive trauma-informed care that would be focused on treating their clinical needs to help them return to their family or a family-like setting as soon as reasonably possible.

To support this, a QRTP lifetime limit was created for how long Children or youth are allowed to receive treatment in QRTPs with federal reimbursement

The QRTP Lifetime limit is:

  • 6 months for children who are age 12 or younger
  • 12 consecutive months or 18 nonconsecutive months for youth age 13 or older
